Company Overview
National 4-H Council is the national, private sector non-profit partner of 4-H and the Cooperative Extension System. National 4-H Council focuses on fundraising; brand management; communications; legal and fiduciary support to national and state 4-H programs; and operation of the full-service National 4-H Youth Conference Center in Chevy Chase, Md., and the National 4-H Supply Service, the authorized agent for items bearing the 4-H Name and Emblem.
Council is governed by its own Board of Trustees, made up of youth, representatives from 4-H, Extension, and land-grant universities, corporate executives and other private citizens from a wide array of backgrounds.

SUMMARY OF BENEFITS - JANUARY 1, 2008
LEAVE
HOLIDAYS - Nine paid holidays per year - includes one personal holiday of Associate’s choosing.
ANNUAL LEAVE - Associates with less than 3 years of service will accrue vacation at the rate of 15 days per year; more than 3 years but less than 10 years, at the rate of 20 days per year; and more than 10 years of service, at the rate of 25 days per year. Maximum accrual for all Associates is 40 days. Associates can cash in up to two weeks in weekly increments, per calendar year.
SICK LEAVE - Regular, full and part-time Associates accrue 10 days per year. Maximum accrual for all Associates is 65 days.
VOLUNTEER DAY - One day per year for community service
FAMILY MEDICAL LEAVE (Unpaid) - Eligible Associates may receive up to 12 weeks of unpaid leave of absence during any consecutive twelve-month period for their own or family member’s qualifying event. Group health plan benefits may continue provided Associate pays their share of the premium contribution.
INSURANCE
HEALTH & DENTAL - Council pays the major portion of the premium for eligible Associates. Council offers MAMSI group health and CIGNA network dental plan. A traditional indemnity medical and dental plan is also available.
SHORT-TERM DISABILITY - Council fully pays costs. Benefits apply to all active regular, full- and part-time benefited Associates on the day of hire. Benefits are paid at 66% of base pay, eligibility after a 7-day waiting period. Associates may use accrued sick or annual leave to supplement the STD benefit to bring total compensation to 100%.
LONG-TERM DISABILITY - Council fully pays premiums. Plan covers regular, full and part-time Associates above age 18 who work at least 30 hours per week. Monthly benefits begin on the 91st day of total disability and provide 60% of annual earnings up to $200,000.
LIFE - Council fully pays premiums. Benefits equal 250% of annual earnings up to $500,000 benefit maximum.
TRAVEL ACCIDENT - Council fully pays premium. Business travel accidental death or dismemberment is covered up to $100,000.
WORKERS’ COMPENSATION - Council pays premium for all Associates.
UNEMPLOYMENT COMPENSATION - Council pays benefits for eligible Associates.
AON – Various Insurance options are offered by Worksite Solutions. Paid for by the Associates.
RETIREMENT
DEFINED BENEFIT PENSION PLAN - Council fully pays. Associates with one-year service are eligible, vested in 5 years, and qualify for full pension after 20 years service.
DEBINED CONTRIBUTION PENSION PLAN – Council contributes 2.5% of earnings to a tax-deferred 403b plan and will match Associate contributions at the rate of 50% up to 3% of earnings for a maximum of an additional 1.5% Council contribution.
VOLUNTARY TAX-DEFERRED ANNUITY PLAN (403b) - Associates may save up to 20% of their earnings pre-tax, to a maximum of $15,500 annually and $20,500 annually for Associates who are 50 and older.
SOCIAL SECURITY - Council matches the Associate’s 7.65% payment to the Social Security Fund.

OTHER
EMPLOYEE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM - Council fully-paid program provides up to three (3) confidential counseling/referral sessions per Associate and dependents to address personal, marital, family, substance abuse, and credit, concerns, etc. per year/issue.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT - Council provides Associates with learning opportunities and tuition reimbursement in order to further their education in an effort to enhance current skills and productivity as well as foster career development.
LEGAL CARE PLAN - For a nominal monthly fee, you and your dependent family members can receive confidential legal counseling and representation for a wide range of services, as often as needed, without paying attorney fees; plus, receive a 25% discount on non-covered legal services.
DIRECT DEPOSIT PAYROLL - Associates may elect to deposit paycheck directly into savings, checking or credit union accounts.
CREDIT UNION - Associates may participate in the USDA Federal Credit Union’s Savings Plan. Loans are available.
CAFETERIA PRIVILEGES - Associates may eat two meals per day in our full-service dining hall at a substantially discounted rate, presently $4.00 per meal.
FREE PARKING - On premises.
PRE-TAX PREMIUM DEDUCTIONS - Associates pay their share of the health/dental insurance premiums with pre-tax dollars, resulting in more take-home pay.
FLEXIBLE SPENDING ACCOUNTS - Associate may elect to deduct up to $7,500.00 pre-tax for medical and $5,000.00 pre-tax for dependent care reimbursement.
REFERRAL BONUS PLAN-Associates who refer a hired candidate for part-time or full-time employment may receive a bonus of $500 per referral.
FITNESS CENTER- Council provides a fitness center on the premises free of charge for Associates to utilize in an effort to promote a healthy lifestyle.
